Oliver Lansley and
Matt King, represented by
Jessica Cooper, have received a 6 episode series commission from BBC2 following a successful pilot of their comedy sitcom
Whites. Starring Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek, QI) as executive chef Roland White,
Whites is based on Matt’s days working as a chef at Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire.
Having always wanted to write a comedy about his days in a kitchen - some of the toughest of his life – Matt teamed up with Oliver Lansley, (who he met on the pilot for
FM) and the characters and the world of ‘The White House’ restaurant were born.
The show is a comedy about relationships and people. Roland wants to be a culinary star but can't really be bothered doing the hard work. He'd rather his best friend and sous-chef Bib Spears (played by Darren Boyd –
Saxondale, May Contain Nuts) did the hard graft and he got to take the credit. They are joined by waitress Kiki, (Isy Suttie –
Peep Show), apprentice Skoose and Roland's dogged agent Steph Berry, (Pam Ferris -
Rosemary & Thyme).
Matt and Oliver are also working on a new BBC project,
Lifes Too Short, which will star Warwick Davis and are developing original ideas for FOX. Both Matt and Oli are also actors - Matt is known to many as Superhans in the award-winning Peep Show and will soon be appearing new film,
London Boulevard, starring Keira Knightly and Ray Winstone, whilst Oli appeared in the ITV2 series,
FM, which he created and wrote alongside Chris O’Dowd and Kevin Bishop. He also performs regularly with his award winning company
Les Enfants Terribles, with whom he will travel to Edinburgh this summer.
