Twiggy's Frock Exchange BBC2

Twiggy’s Frock Exchange, which finished its first run on BBC2 last week, has received rave reviews from the press.

“Television has moved with lightning speed to reflect our current realities: goodbye Sarah Beeny, hello Twiggy’s Frock Exchange. Suddenly frugality rules.” “Actually this was Top Gear for girls...This programme’s finger was on the contemporary wartime pulse: social capital is what will matter until we can get back to greed.” Stephen Pile, Telegraph, 11/10/08

“Twiggy’s Frock Exchange is tailor made for these interesting times. The former Lesley Hornby of Neasden…presiding over a frockswapshop, in which 100 women bring five items of clothing they no longer wear and give them away to those who want to – a phenomenon known as ‘swishing’ (which I’d thought was something else entirely) which is big in the States….the sum total was all very cosy and girly, if also ever so slightly subdued, perhaps because, somehow, TV always feels a bit guilty about wanting to enjoy fashion as much as it should.” Kathryn Flett, The Observer, 12/10/08

"This deeply moving play by Jonathan Lichtenstein is about exclusion and persecution; how Germans, Jews and Arabs harass or destroy other people and their own.  Fearless, even-handed, impressively acted." - The Sunday Times

"Jonathan Lichtenstein's 90-minute play cannot be faulted for ambition, epic scope or meditaitive daring...grand and challenging." - Evening Standard

"Jonathan Lichtenstein's tale of two walls and two ethnic calamities packs plenty of power." - The Times

"An innovative thought provoker that draws in the audience and enthrals" - The Jewish Telegraph (on the Off Westend page)
