Mikael Davies

Mikael was born in Helsinki which explains the funny spelling - his Finnish mum went for a Swedish name. He moved to the UK when he was six months old and stayed there for the next 28 years. After graduating from Sheffield University, he spent seven years teaching English and Drama in various comprehensive schools. However, a series of Finnish holidays spent skiing through forests and splashing about in lakes prompted him to apply for work there.

Now he works in a Finnish high school teaching English to International Baccalaureate classes. Having always enjoyed writing, he has worked on a number of English text books including the best-selling In Touch series for high school students. He also writes children's stories.

He lives with his family in Tampere, Finland's third largest city. His spoken Finnish has been compared to his skiing - slow but guaranteed to amuse the neighbours.
