Richard is a freelance travel writer and author. His current work includes being the Adventure Travel Editor of the Daily Telegraph, Editor of Outdoor Enthusiast Magazine and ghost writer for the adventurer and explorer, Bear Grylls.
No stranger to the buzz of adventure himself, he has served as an army officer and is a self-confessed adrenalin junkie. In the line of duty he has either kayaked, cycled, scuba dived, bungee jumped, flown a paraglider or ridden a horse on all seven continents. Favourite adventures include riding a bicycle coast-to-coast across America, shaking hands with General Amin, riding a horse over the Andes, paragliding with eagles in Brazil, crewing a Whitbread Round the World yacht, dog mushing on the Yukon Quest trail, and running a hotel in a cloud forest in Colombia.
