Tom started his career at Sky News as a sound man and worked his way up through the BBC News Trainee scheme to BBC News Correspondent specialising in Rural affairs, Science and the Environment. He also led a broadcasting team to cover the 50th anniversary of the ascent of Mount Everest with regular broadcasts and hosting a live 30 minute programme from base camp.
He went freelance 3 years ago and has built up a growing portfolio of programmes on both radio and TV. Tom is a very versatile presenter. He has warmth and affability which has proved such a success for daytime TV, whilst also having the journalistic nous and credibility to be a regular on both Panorama and BBC Radio 4.
is currently presenting Animal 24:7 on BBC 1 Daytime and Costing the Earth on Radio 4. He is also becoming a regular reporter on Panorama, covering environmental and social issues. He has won awards for both TV and Radio
Tom writes a regular opinion column for the Science magazine Focus and contributed a chapter to the book 'Icons of England', just out in paperback.
