Engineering
A fascination with music and electronics since the age of 13 led Tony to begin his career designing, building and selling some of the high performance rock and roll recording equipment. Tony was fascinated by the effort and precision required to engineer this technology to perform at a consistently high level. As he progressed to marketing and selling larger and complex technology propositions from within the BBC’s commercial arm, he began to understand that the effort placed into engineering the technology was often not always matched by the effort put into developing the people who bought and used the technology.
Leadership & Development
After the BBC - and a period in the noughties doing management consulting and a start-up - Tony established and ran a leadership development network for CEOs and Managing Partners in professional services (legal, accounting, actuarial and architecture professions) Professional services businesses are highly profitable and are based purely on selling time and people, with resulting emphasis on people development and individual professionalism.. The network was an innovative and successful approach to group and event based learning for senior, time-poor business leaders.
A New Approach
Joining Microsoft and the exciting and fast moving world of technology, the pace and innovation continue to exhilarate. Despite all the tools, technology and broadband networks, the technology world still lacks the professionalism and skills needed to take full advantage of these capabilities. Tony’s goal is to engineer a “New Approach” that combines the best of the technology world with the best of the professional services world, an approach that is simple for individuals to understand and implement themselves. The Leopard in a Pinstripe Suit is the result.
