Peter Auf der Heyde has played and written about African football since graduating from university with an Honours degree in Journalism in 1984. He is an award-winning journalist, who has edited a weekly soccer magazine in South Africa (Soccer News), as well as a monthly magazine (Soccer Arena). He is the founding editor and publisher of the South African Soccer Yearbook. He works for the German Press Association, dpa, as well as for the American internet site, internetsoccer.com. South African-born Auf der Heyde has travelled widely throughout Africa writing about football for various media. He has also covered numerous international events, including the African Cup of Nations, the World Cup and the US Cup. He is married with two boys.
